Captain Dave Wallsworth has released the first in a series of videos filmed from the flight deck of his British Airways Airbus, and the views are just enchanting.
Recounting his own childhood curiosity, Wallsworth decided to make a series of films to share the experience with other curious minds, in the hopes to inspire others and demystify what flying and landing a plane would feel like. The first one is a 13-minute film of a landing in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Wallsworth has also been sharing various videos and images on Twitter and other social media channels.
“I wanted to show that commercial flying is carried out in a somewhat different way to that often portrayed in films,” he said. “It’s generally a very relaxed environment, which actually tends to bring out the best in people and means the job is carried out in a highly proficient manner.”

Incredible view of Hastings, Bexhill, Eastbourne, and further around to Brighton as seen during our descent this morning. And that is the moon at the top of the photograph! Not the sun! #supermoon @British_Airways pic.twitter.com/hNYA3i3kck
