With the largest empire in recorded history, Britain has invaded all but 22 countries, dwarfing the Russians, the Spanish, the Mongols, and the Romans. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t an achievement.
It’s horrifying. Genocide, chattel slavery, bonded labour, murder, war, poverty, pillage, suffering. Britain has left a legacy of it across most of what is now referred to as the Third World (to paraphrase Frantz Fanon).
It would be interesting to find out how much of Britain’s wealth is because of their colonialism.
The following countries were luckily not invaded by Britain (though some were invaded by other European nations):
- Andorra
- Burundi
- Belarus
- Bolivia
- Central African Republic
- Chad
- Côte d’Ivoire
- Republic of the Congo
- Guatemala
- Kyrgyzstan
- Liechtenstein
- Luxembourg
- Monaco
- Marshall Islands
- Mali
- Mongolia
- Paraguay
- São Tomé and Príncipe
- Sweden
- Tajikistan
- Uzbekistan
- Vatican City
Hopefully they leave them alone.
